More than 170 years have passed & Barrie has been without a museum, until the Barrie Historical Archive came along and changed everything.

I had the pleasure of attending the Barrie Historical Archive's launch event, the “Mayors’ Seat”, where every living Mayor of the City of Barrie, and the family members of non-surviving Mayors, took the crowd in attendance through a journey of the roots of our city.

To a at-capacity crowd, the volunteers of the Barrie Historical Archive lead by founder Dr. Travis Doucette revealed the free online museum with over 5,000 historical images, videos & documents, and how it is poised to change how young, old, and future generations interact with, learn about, and preserve our rich history.

The Barrie Historical Archive is 100% community funded, and community operated.

If you have historical content (photos, slides, films) you’d like to lend the Archive so it can be scanned before returned to you, please email info@barriearchive.ca. To support them financially, please click below to visit their page.
